Her love and respect for the environment is evident in Kaye’s art and business practices daily.

Kaye’s sustainability initiatives include:

Using lead-free glazes and non-toxic inks for printing.

Working as much as possible with found objects from nature such as seedpods, shells and leaves as well as natural fibres and materials: clay, natural wooden block prints made by Indian artisans, handmade mulberry paper, recycled paper, cotton, linen, hessian, natural jute twine and cotton ribbon.

Up-cycling items that provide interesting texture and patterns such as doilies and wooden butter paddles from local op shops.

Sourcing all secondhand furniture in her studio.

Wrapping sold items in organic calico, recycled cloth from op shops or tissue paper rather than plastic.

Any plastic used in the studio has been pre-used.

Using eco-cleaning products for hands, surfaces and utensils.
